Welcome to my blog. Here you'll find posts about my home, my knitting projects, and my travels.

Goals for 2015

I think there is just something about the word 'resolution' that ensures that they won't be followed until completion. While I love the idea of having New Year's resolutions, I think I'd rather call them goals for 2015. Makes them seem more attainable and perhaps a little less lofty than "resolutions".

More perspective + more balance - 2014 had its up and downs. I never realized how difficult work life balance would be... and I don't even have a family yet! In the meantime, I am going to live by this new rule, and I think others might find it valuable as well:

Cook more + bake more – I got a lot of fun baking gear for Christmas this year, and I want to put it to good use. Cooking has always been a bit of a struggle for me. I am just not very good at it, and I get frustrated by how long it takes. That said, I know it's something I need to work on; not only is much cheaper than eating out, it's usually a lot healthier too.

Volunteer! Somehow, someway, I'd like to give back more.

Hone my knitting skills - I basically just want more nights like this.

Take a class. No specifics on this one - I'd just like to learn something new in 2015.

Race! Complete a 5k, a 10K, and a half marathon.

Keep in touch - Every week, think of someone who I haven't talked to in a long time and then call them up. This was one for 2014 as well. While I don't think I did this every week, I definitely did it quite a bit, and it helped me keep in touch with a lot of people who live far away/people who I love, but don't get to see very often.

Write daily – Week day blog posts + 3 hours per week of writing.

Teach a class - I am kind of cheating on this one since I know I will be teaching a weekend continuing education course. Still goal worthy though, and I am very excited about it!

Read 50 books – My good friend Nicole told me that this was one of hers, and I just felt like I had to add it to the list. Ever since I graduated, it's been more difficult to find time to read. I miss when it was one of my biggest priorities. Here's to making it more of a priority in 2015

Finally open a Knitting Etsy shop – I have been toying with this idea for a long time now. It's a bigger commitment than I first imagined (something I realized after looking in to it a bit), but it's something that I definitely want to start in 2015.

Travel to Prince Edward Island or the Grand Teton National Park + Yellowstone - I have wanted to travel to Prince Edward Island since I was eleven – the year that I read Anne of Green Gables. Yellowstone + the Grand Teton National Park has been a more recent addition to my list, but will probably be more affordable than PEI. I just want to make sure I get to travel this year – 2014 was sadly a year of very little travel.
