Welcome to my blog. Here you'll find posts about my home, my knitting projects, and my travels.

Friday Favorites: Beauty Travel Picks

With all of the traveling that I have done recently still on my mind, I thought I'd share some of my favorite on-the-go beauty products. Basically, all of these are must-have items for me, meaning that each one was present in my suitcase throughout my entire trip.

Coconut Oil

You guys, I love this stuff. You can use it for everything which makes it ideal for traveling since it serves so many purposes!  I primarily use it as makeup remover (it's really gentle on your eyes - no stinging or anything) and as a substitute for shaving cream. I know a few other people who often use it in their hair sort of as a type of hair mask. A few points to note: 1. It's all natural - I know that this is something that many people are now looking for. 2. It will fluctuate between being solid and being liquid, depending upon the temperature of the room its stored in. You can use it in either state. This means that you'll also have to pack it careful, as you have to with all liquids.

Given my very fair-skinned complexion, I have to take this stuff with me everywhere I go. My sister has the same issue, and we made sure that at least one of us was packing the sunscreen before we embarked for our trip. True story: we went sailing in Zurich and I applied 50 SPF sunscreen to my legs twice (once before we left and once during said sailing). Welp, my thighs still got sunburned. It's a constant battle, I tell you. Another note on sunscreen: I usually stick to Burt's Bees sunscreen for a myriad of personal reasons, including the facts that its cruelty-free and doesn't contain parabens.

I never feel like I have a ton of time to get ready for the day when I am traveling. Usually, I am sharing a space, so there is someone else waiting to use the bathroom. Plus, I'll usually be so ready to get going - so much so that I won't want to take forever to get ready. When traveling, I would generally just wash my face in the mornings and throw on Squalane Oil from Indie Lee to act as a moisturizer. I just started using this product. Although it is a bit pricey, you don't have to use much at a time, so it should last for quite some time. Plus, I love the way it feels on my skin.

So there you have it - of course, I used other products such as mascara and lip gloss, but I thought I'd share the ones that I haven't shared previously.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
