Best Things about Living with a Dog

Living with Reggie - A Detailed Palette

Reggie, as many of you know, is my tiny, cute, and adventurous Pomeranian rat terrier mix. While he’s certainly not the perfectly trained or best-behaved dog, he’s definitely a joy to live with. Here’s why:

Best Greetings

I am always enthusiastically greeted whenever I walk through the door – whether I’ve been away for one hour or two weeks. It’s easily one of the best parts of my day.

Most Lovable Alarm Clock

While I never thought I could love anything that woke me up early every day, I have been proven wrong. Reggie usually wakes me up every morning before my alarm and will even snuggle with me for a few moments until my actual alarm blasts off. This is really the only time he is ever a very snuggly dog, and he’s just so cute that I can’t even be mad. Plus, it helps to ease the whole wake up process.

Reminds Me of the Value of Playing

Reggie looooves to play. Fetch is his absolute favorite, and I don’t think that, if left up to him, he’d ever stop playing. I always try to take at least 30 minutes out of my day, usually right after my run, to play with Reggie. It’s the cutest thing ever to see how something so simple makes him so fricken happy. It’s a nice reminder that you don’t always need the latest and greatest things to make you happy. In fact, the more simple you tend to keep everything, the happier you are probably bound to be.

Reminds Me to Be Present

I always try to play with Reggie and enjoy walks without any distractions; that includes not checking my phone on our walks or watching TV while I’m tossing the ball. I want to be present in the moment and actually enjoy spending time with my dog without being horribly distracted by things that aren’t really as important to me.

So in summary – you should probably get a dog. They are, of course, a ton of responsibility and can cause quite the messes on occasion, and you will forever have dog hair everywhere, but I can say without a doubt that getting Reggie is one of the best choices we ever made.

Do you have a pet? Did this sound a familiar? :)

Have a great Wednesday!
