New Skincare Regimen
Just when I think I have my skin figured out, it does something crazy. Anyone else have the same problem? Perhaps it was stress combined with the colder weather, but about a month ago, my skin went off the deep end, and I've only recently been bringing it back from the depths of despair. I changed up my skincare routine/regimen - and so far, so good.
1. I use coconut oil to remove my makeup
Best use ever for coconut oil. Sometimes I'll be tempted just to wash my face without removing my makeup first, but I'll quietly remind myself that adults take off their makeup before they go to bed. This usually does the trick. I think this was the biggest problem in terms of my recent skin freak out - left over makeup is basically guaranteed to clog your pores.
2. I have started using Cetaphil Face Cleanser
After my makeup is removed, I wash my face with Cetaphil. I recently got this cleanser because I read so many rave reviews. As far as I can tell, they have all been justified. The one thing I have noticed is that my face will feel very tight/dry after using it, so I wouldn't use it without following it up with a decent moisturizer.
3. I now use my Clarisonic every other day
To be honest, even though I love this little brush, I got really lazy about using it. However, nothing spurs action quite like a horrible breakout. So I bought a new brush head and now am on a consistent schedule. Brushing your face really works you guys - who would have thought? I'll do this after my makeup as all been removed.
4. I've been subbing in Rosemary & Sage Scrub
On the weekends, I've been exfoliating my skin with this cool rosemary and sage scrub. It feels amazing and my skin has responded to it really well, so I am all for it.
5. I'm sure to moisturize
I've actually been using both Laura Mercier and Indie Lee Moisturizing Oil for a while and thought that they probably weren't the culprit behind my most recent breakouts. Turns out, they are still working incredibly well and help restore the moisture that cleaning and exfoliating removes. The Indie Lee oil is especially awesome. It may sound weird to use oil as a moisturizer, but it really works.
In other news, I cannot believe it's already Christmas Eve! Hope you all enjoy time with your family and friends tonight - oh and Merry Christmas! :)
