Summer Beauty Haul
Firstly, I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day weekend!
The weather was a bit on the sad side in Milwaukee this weekend, but I remain hopeful that summer is on its way! So naturally, it’s time to talk about switching up the ol’ beauty routine.
Most people get these magical things called tans in the summer; these same people typically have to have summer tones for their foundation and cover-up in order to match their tanned skin. I am not one of those people. I am either pale, pink, or tomato red. I prefer the pink as it isn’t quite as blinding in the sunlight and it isn’t painful/unhealthy like the tomato red.
Even though my Irish skin means that I don’t have to have any darker shades of foundation on hand, I still do like to switch up some of my makeup routine for summer, mostly because 1.) it’s fun and 2.) it’s going to be hot and I don’t want my makeup to melt off my face.
I decided to try this foundation because I've gotten a lot of recommendations. I have actually tried a few other bareMinerals foundations (in powder form), and I wasn't a huge fan, but so far, I am really impressed with this foundation. It covers really well, and I do think it lives up to its brightening name. I haven't been using it for too long, but it appears that my usually sensitive skin doesn't hate it - no major breakouts to report. I'm also a huge fan of the SPF 20 - as stated before, with my Irish skin, I need a makeup with SPF, especially in the summer.
I am also going to be trying out Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation. I have heard amazing things about this foundation from one of my best friends, and I am interested in seeing if it works for my skin.
I love this brush, you guys. It's probably really odd to have such strong feelings for a brush, but I can't help it. It just feels like satin on my face. This brush also applies perfectly and really allows you to buff the makeup in - which is a pretty big deal for the summer months.
Oh hey perfect summer lipstick! For some reason, I find bold reds and darker reds more appropriate for fall and winter. For spring and summer, I tend to gravitate towards lighter colors, like pale pinks and softer peach tones. I really love this Go the Distance color - I feel like it just brightens up my face.
