As crazy as it sounds, 2017 isn't too far off. I thought I'd do a little bit of check in on the home goals I set for myself in January of 2016 to see how far the place has come in a matter of 8 months.
Make gold-brush stroke pillow and a zebra-print pillow for the bedroom. I actually bought these, but I am counting it as a success. Sometimes, you just have to spend a little bit more... because time is money too.
Chalk paint my bedroom dresser. Completed and so, so happy with how this turned out.
Find a new TV stand. Another great choice that completely changed the look and feel of the entire space.
A new rug. Maybe. While I don't think it's a dire need, I'm considering one that's a darker color. Turns out that rugs with even a tiny bit of white still require a lot of effort in terms of keeping things neat and tidy.
Curate my book collection. I am just going to be completely honest here - this one has not happened at all. Maybe the goal itself was a bit lofty, especially given the limited time I now have at my disposal for reading.
Share my home tour. Happy to report that, with a new camera, this second part of the home tour will be happening sooner as opposed to later. Stay tuned!
There are a few others I'd like to add - hopefully I can tackle them all by 2017:
1. Finish knitting the throw blanket
2. Knit a pillow cover for the couch
3. Create a knitted plant cover. Similar to this plant cover that I made some time ago.
I'm also debating whether or not to add one more: painting the kitchen cabinets. I haven't asked our landlords in any case, but I am wondering if it'd be worth having another project. I really hate the kitchen for that particular reason - the cabinets are the ugliest shade. But at the same time, I am not sure I want to sink any substantial dollars into a rental. I would love your feedback on this, especially if you've painted cabinets before. It seems rather time consuming.
And just for a reference point, here is what the place looked like in January 2016
And here, again, is today!
And yes, there is a fish in the bowl above. He's just elusive, so you can't see him. He's Basil the Beta. :) In any case, we have really come along way and it's nice to be able to see photographic evidence of the progress.
A wonderful Tuesday to you all!
